SpaceX wraps up Polaris Dawn mission with a splashdown [Watch]

On September 15, 2024, SpaceX wrapped up the multi-day Polaris Dawn mission with a splashdown off the coast of Dry Tortugas, Florida, and returned the crew to Earth.

The mission lifted off on September 10 from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The Dragon pod hosted four astronauts including Mission Commander, Jared Isaacman, Mission Pilot Kidd Poteet, Mission Specialist Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon.

These four completed various objectives in space including the first-ever commercial spacewalk, EVA suite test, Starlink internet test, and scientific research on human health.

These activities lasted five days and the crew returned to Earth on the sixth. On its way to Earth, the Dragon spacecraft completed several milestones to achieve a safe splashdown.
