xAI Grok will get a new icon, here’s how it may look

AI company xAI is working on a new Grok icon and it will be available soon for all X users. This news coming from X app insiders @swak_12 reveals new plans to bring a better face to Grok.

The company has made some drastic changes in the appearance and the icon is now looking like a bot head. It has two circles (for eyes) and a rectangular-shaped head with two ears. The light and dark versions have different appearances.

However, a second version spotted by @nima_owji shows a stripped-down icon with only two rings in the middle. That doesn’t include the ear shape. It seems that this is a premature icon compared to the one shown above.

These two icons have been detected in the recent X beta app. It appears that X is yet to make a decision on one icon and we’ll have to wait for the final rollout.

The initial icon includes a forward slash, which indicates coding/programming. The logo was simple but this large language model (LLM) has received major upgrades within one year of launch.

It is currently available for X social media platform and enables users to ask questions to get real-time information. A few months ago, the company seeded version 2 with new features including a generative image.

You can ask the bot to create an image by describing the scenario, a person, or any object of combine them all to make it more diverse. The user interface allows you to mashup the image over and over to check different results. You can download and share this image with your post or on other platforms.

Grok 2 can understand images and screenshots. All you need to do is upload an image to this chatbot and ask Grok about the image or the screen for an explanation.

The new icon will give a subtle look to Grok in the main X menu.
