SpaceX enables Starlink satellite SMS for affected in Los Angeles wildfire

SpaceX has officially announced that it’s enabling the SMS feature for the Los Angeles area via T-Mobile and Starlink direct-to-cell satellites. With this, affected people can text their family and loved ones, text 911, and receive emergency alerts.

Two massive wildfires broke out in Los Angeles from the east and west sides, which has become the worst disaster in Los Angeles history. It has spread over more than 31,000 acres, five people lost their lives, more than 18,000 evacuated and more than 200,000 are still under warning.

The fire has completely destroyed homes and neighborhoods and turned them into rubble.

Los Angeles Sheriff Robert Luna said that the Eaton Fire alone had damaged 4,000 to 5,000 structures and the Palisades Fire destroyed more than 5,000.
