SoftBank is ready to boost OpenAI moral with $25 billion investment

DeepSeek R1 is taking the AI world by storm and OpenAI is its biggest victim, which is now under conversation with SoftBank to get a $25 billion investment to uplift its morale after this massive defeat.
Sources from WSJ revealed that the two companies are now in talks for a potential investment of $15 billion to $25 billion. These firms already have a previous business relationship and collaboratively participate in the $500 billion Stargate joint venture to improve the U.S. AI infrastructure.

If SoftBank proceeds with this investment, it will become the largest investor in OpenAI, larger than Microsoft. However, the software maker is still looking forward to more partnerships with the ChatGPT maker.
“We remain very happy with the partnership with OpenAI”, said Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.
