AI Robot company Figure breaks OpenAI partnership

AI robotics company Figure has announced its exit from the OpenAI collaboration agreement a year after finalizing this large language model (LLM) talks.
“Today, I made the decision to leave our collaboration agreement with OpenAI,” wrote Brett Adcock, CEO of Figure AI on X (formerly Twitter).
In February 2024, Figure announced a $675 million funding round including Microsoft and OpenAI. These partners not only funded the robotics company but also entered into a collaboration to develop AI models. Meanwhile, Microsoft provided Azure AI infrastructure for training and storage for training and deployment.
In March, Figure demonstrated Figure 01 with conversational skills feature OpenAI models claiming inclusion for high-level visual and language intelligence. It has neural networks for better action.

The latest decision comes in the wake of a “major breakthrough”, Figure CEO announced that his company has achieved a major leap in end-to-end robot AI built in-house. None of the details are revealed for the time being.
However, it’s confirmed that the new Figure AI will be demonstrated within the next 30 days.
In August, the company unveiled a Figure 2 robot design with better hands, smooth joints, and intelligence improvements. It’s likely that this robot will be used to demonstrate the new end-to-end robot AI.
