Tesla is expected to launch its robotaxi service this month, and a new Model 3 has been spotted in public with a Cybercab-like appearance and the iconic gold paint as a test attire.

A video emerged on X via @ASVPxdrizzle shows a Tesla Model 3 with numerous customizations over the regular version. The front of the car has a camera and no side mirrors. Instead, it has cameras, and the same goes for the rear side with the additional camera on the trunk.

One thing to notice is that the car has these cameras placed as additional hardware, not integrated into the design, while the screws are highly visible, which confirms it as a test vehicle.

The passenger row glass is covered, and the car doesn’t seem to be accessible from any side except the front door. This prototype Tesla Model 3 robotaxi has made a high effort to become a Cybercab replica with a golden color, a special trait of this autonomous driving vehicle unveiled last year. Similarly, the wheels are covered with golden color covers, as well as the roof.

According to a recent report, Tesla has been testing its Robotaxi services across Austin, where the company is aiming to launch the services first.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, also acknowledged that the autonomous Model Ys are driving on Austin public streets and reported no major issues or incidents. He also said that the test phase started a month ahead of the public announcement.

The EV maker will use unsupervised Full Self Driving (FSD) to run its vehicles autonomously. These will pick up passengers from a starting point and drop them at a destination. The first generation robotaaxi will use Tesla’s existing Model 3 and Model Y fleet in 10-20 units, which could increase to thousands if the public test goes according to the plan.

For now, Tesla has not made any announcement regarding public beta, but it’s reportedly planning to kick off on June 12 in Austin, Texas.
