Tesla Semi is yet to make a full-fledged debut for global customers, and a new model with better improvements is already under testing over the initial build designed for alpha production.

Lars Moravy, VP of Vehicle Engineering at Tesla, said that these new builds are going through beta testing and should be ready for production by January 2026. Tesla is building a Semi factory in Nevada, which will produce 50,000 units a year during full operations.

The EV maker is sharing factory updates on the social media site X, confirming that the preparations are in line with the decided timeline and will be completed by the end of the year.

While addressing the current progress for Semis at a X Takeover event, Lars said that the total cost of ownership will be a “no-brainer” for truck operators. However, he didn’t elaborate on a specific price tag for the time being.

Meanwhile, specific upgrades and improvements in this new design remain unknown. However, we speculate that these new changes may have been taken from the pilot program with its customers, such as Pepsico, which has been actively using the Tesla Semi for more than two years.

Tesla Semi is an electric semi-truck vehicle with up to 500 miles of electric range. It offers 0-60mph acceleration in 20 seconds and consumes 2kW per mile of energy, but it can recover up to 70 percent of range within 30 minutes thanks to new Superchargers.

This semi-truck offers standard and active safety controls and advanced motor and brake systems to provide traction and stability.
