xAI launches Grok 4 for free users
xAI is now rolling Grok 4 model for free users, bringing the latest model to all Grok users at once after a month of the initial availability for SuperGrok and Premium+ subscribers. The access is now distributed across the grok.com web platform as well as the mobile application.
To use Grok 4, go to the model selector and select Grok 4 to jump to the latest model. You can now experience the advanced speed and performance on the go. We aren’t sure whether this is a trial or it’s here to stay.
The AI company has been engaged in active development of Grok 4, bringing new capabilities to the user by utilizing the Colossus cluster featuring over 200,000 GPUs.
Grok 4 was trained with reinforcement learning to use tools. It can think better than its predecessor and bring more correct answers. The new AI model uses its search queries to find useful information from the web and explore more details about questions.
This is a big upgrade as a state-of-the-art for closed models on ARC-AGI V2 with 15.9% (twice of OPus’s 8.5%). On the agentic Vending-Bench, it dominates with $4694.15 net worth and 4569 units sold, outspacing Claude Opus 4 ($2077.41, 1412 units), humans ($844.05, 344 units), and others.
On the other hand, Grok 4 Heavy model with multi-agent is leading USAMO’25 with 61.9% and it’s the first to score 50.7% on Humanity’s Last Exam (text-only subset), demonstrating unparalleled capabilities in complex reasoning through scaled reinforcement learning and native tool use.
