xAI releases Imagine video-gen feature for Grok web

xAI is rolling out the Imagine feature for Grok web users, bringing broader access to this generative image and video generation feature.

Imagine is an AI model feature that allows fast image generation with a description-based prompt. Once generated, you can select an image to generate a video from the same prompt. This video will be a few seconds short and could be anything that could describe your imagination.

To use Imagine, go to grok.com/imagine, or click on the Imagine icon from the left sidebar on the home screen. The Imagine interface includes a gallery of pre-generated images, which you can start with, or you can dive in fresh with your own prompt.

You can also upload images to turn them into videos with the upload button on the file uploader on the left side of the prompt box. Furthermore, a recent/favorite icon will be displayed on the right side of the prompt editor to view your recent file generations.

Either way of generation will lead you to the video screen, where you will see the image preview and the prompt. Tap on the “Make video” button to generate a video, which may take a few seconds.

The video generation has three modes: normal is applied by default, which will give you a simple video. The Fun and Spicy modes will give you different results. For example, the spicy mode could give you an NSFW version of an image.

Other options on the screen include a favorite button, download, and share, which will create a shareable link and save it to the clipboard. Once the video is generated, you can instantly preview the result or redo the generation from the same interface. You can also pick other images from the gallery below.
