Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, has announced that FSD v14 will begin to rollout in an early version for users starting next week, which may end the wait for this major upgrade. Musk also promised that this update will be followed by the FSD v14.1, which will rollout 2 weeks after, and a subsequent release of 14.2

His latest comment on this matter comes as user @jason shared his feedback about Full Self Driving version 13 on an HW4 vehicle. The user said that these FSD rides were very good and autonomously perfect.

Musk followed by saying that version 14.2 will make FSD feel like a “sentient”. In general terms, sentience is the capacity to experience sensations, emotions, or subjective awareness. In terms of science, this word is often connected with consciousness. So, this update will make FSD’s consciousness better than before.

A few months ago, Musk predicted that Tesla would bring Robotaxi-like improvements to public Tesla users. The Robotaxi system currently uses unsupervised FSD, which doesn’t require a human driver in the driver’s seat to monitor the car’s maneuvers. Instead, the car drives autonomously. On the opposite side, the supervised FSD, a version for public cars, requires a driver to watch FSD’s moves.

Supervised FSD currently has FSD v13.x, and an upgrade to v14 is likely to bring massive improvements to its driving intelligence. Musk once mentioned that the new FSD model for cars will bring 10x params and a big upgrade to video compression loss.

However, the timing of the rollout depended on internal tests, which seem to be going in the right direction. Still, we need to wait for Tesla to start delivering the FSD v14 software update as per the schedule next week.
