Tesla 500kW Supercharging V4

Tesla has opened the first V4 cabinet Supercharger, which provides super-fast charging speed over V3 with improved efficiency and lower cost.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker first announced this V4 cabinet supercharger in November last year and promised to bring it to the public in 2025. The new post delivers 0.5MW, 3 times higher power density, and 2 times more stalls per cabinet compared to V3. This means the new cabinet Supercharger brings higher throughput, efficiency, lower cost, and fast deployments.

However, currently only Cybertruck can take the full advantage of this new cabinet, which can charge at 350kW at max. That said, this armored vehicle can push recovery up to 44% in 15 minutes with the new charger, which is 13% faster than the V3. However, the video trailer shared by the company shows that Cybertruck is capable of 500kW intake. However, that’s not officially confirmed.

Max De Zegher, Tesla Supercharger chief, has shared an image of the V4 cabinet’s insides, showing 16 trays of power electronics, DC out. He also said that this technology will make 1.2MW charging for Tesla Semi and 0.5MW charging for cars.

The first V4 cabin Supercharger is located at 2545 El Camino Real, Redwood City, CA 94061. It has 8 superchargers capable of up to 500kW max output and available 24/7.

The new V4 cabinet supercharger is only available for Teslas and will expand to non-Tesla vehicles in the fourth quarter after final engineering and validation.
