OpenAI launches Sora video generation and community app
OpenAI has officially launched the Sora video generation app with a dedicated pace to create such content with a lot of customizations powered by Sora 2, the latest video generation model.
“Sora is a new kind of creative app that turns text prompts and images into hyperreal videos with sound using the latest advancements from OpenAI. A single sentence can unfold into a cinematic scene, an anime short, or a remix of a friend’s video. If you can write it, you can see it, remix it, and share it. Turn your words into worlds with Sora,” reads the app description.
You can create videos with sound, explain the video prompt or image, and the model will generate a clip with audio from that description. You can also cast yourself into the videos or remix challenges and trends to play with others. It offers a bunch of video styles supported in the video generation, including cinematic, animated, photorealistic, cartoon, and anything you could possibly try to create.
Users have the freedom to take others’ clips and edit their prompts to remix the entire idea. That includes swapping characters, changing the scenario, adding new background, and more. The most interesting part of this app is the community feature, where users can share their creations with others and also check what others are sharing. This is like an AI video social media platform.
OpenAI has currently limited the Sora app on the iOS platform to 13+ content restriction, but it could include some content with even higher age restrictions. However, it has some in-app controls to verify age assurance.

Preview
The app is currently released as a preview and requires an invite. A full version will be released in the near future. The initial access is coming to the U.S. and Canada, and will soon expand to additional countries. You will need to sing up within the app to receive the push notification when the access expands to more users.
