SpaceX has officially announced the Starship Flight 11 launch date for Monday, October 13. This targeted liftoff window has been previously reported in the U.S. maritime hazard notice.

This is the 11th flight test for this massive rocket, which consists of two stages, and both are designed to achieve reusability. The first stage consists of 33 Raptor engines, generating 7,590 tf of thrust. The Super Heavy is powered by sub-cooled liquid methane and liquid oxygen.

The first stage is designed to send the ship into orbit and return to the launch site. The company achieved this massive feat with the 5th flight test and repeated it two more times. Interestingly, the super heavy is already reused in the past flight tests with flight-proven engine configurations.

The space rocket maker is now conducting some new experiments on its engine and fuel efficiency. Therefore, Flight 11 will not attempt to catch the booster with the launch tower arms. Instead, it will have to perform a couple of pre-landing maneuvers as it splashes down into the Gulf of America.

The ship is designed to carry the payload and deploy it into orbit. It operates with a separate 6 Raptor engines, including 3 Raptor vacuum that helps the stage to navigate into space. The ship is 52 meters tall and 9 meters wide, and it generates 1,500 tf of thrust. Its payload capacity is 100-150 tons, which can be configured according to different payload types and weight classes.

Flight 8 and Flight 9 were quite rough for the ship as it suffered an anomaly before even completing the ascent phase. However, Flight 10 has beaten the previous failure, and the ship completed the entire orbit as well as the descent phase, followed by a splashdown in the Indian Ocean.

Yet the challenge remains, which is to get the ship into the sea without damaging the thermal system and heat shield tiles. This part is still in progress, and SpaceX is likely to show some good with Starship Flight 11.

You should know that the launch date could change or be delayed based on various factors including launch preparations, vehicle health and weather conditions.
