OpenAI Sora Character Cameo

OpenAI has launched Sora Character Cameos for the Sora text-to-video generation app that allows users to create and reuse customizable 3D characters from real-life elements like pets, doodles, photos, objects, or original personas.

Open the Sora app, select and upload a video clip; you can use your own video, photos, or Sora videos. Once selected, the app will show the progress of the upload and get on to the customization task, including extracting the appearance, style, and personality to build a reusable cameo.

You can use these cameos to insert into new Sora videos and repeat their use across different videos. For example, you can ask Sora to include the cameo in videos with prompts like.

“Have my dog cameo as a sidekick in a sci-fi adventure.” It supports collaborative features, such as casting friends as characters while giving them control over usage.

Besides Character Cameo, OpenAI is also rolling out stitching and a leaderboard for Sora users. The former lets users combine clips to create longer videos.
