Grok 4.1 leaks but Elon Musk promised Grok 4.2

xAI is preparing to launch a new AI model, while we’re expecting this to be Grok 4.20, a leak from the official Grok website showing Grok 4.1 as a new twist.

Based on the findings by AI enthusiasts, Grok.com backend code has mentions of model names grok-4-1-non-thinking-w-tool and grok-4-1-non-thinking-no-tool-1111b. These are expected to be the unreleased Grok 4.1 reference, but details about the two models are currently hidden.

Recently, two new xAI models also entered OpenRounter’s Stealth testing with names Sherlock Think Alpha and Sherlock Dash Alpha. The Sherlock Think Alpha is a non-reasoning model that excels at tool calling with a 1.8 million context window and multimodal support.

These could be the Grok 4.1 models, but everything at the moment is just speculation.Grok 4.1
