Tesla Semi Updated Design

Tesla has shared an image of its updated Tesla Semi electric truck design, offering a clearer view of the vehicle’s new appearance ahead of expanded production.

The showcased photograph features two identical Tesla Semi trucks positioned side by side in an outdoor setting, both displaying the same updated features. This confirms that the vehicles represent a single design variant.

The front fascia stands out with a prominent full-width horizontal LED light bar positioned low across the bumper area. This thin, continuous strip provides daytime running lights and headlights in a unified band, creating a clean and modern illumination setup. Above it, the large tinted windshield with curves maintains the centered cabin layout for driver visibility.

Side mirrors extend on aerodynamic arms, and small orange marker lights sit atop the cab. The lower front includes a black accent panel with subtle intakes, while the overall bodywork uses smooth, rounded contours in a glossy white finish. These elements contribute to an aerodynamic profile, with extended side fairings and a tapered roofline reducing drag.

Compared to the earlier Tesla Semi prototype design from 2017, the updated version marks a noticeable shift. The original featured two distinct, vertically oriented headlights on either side of the front, giving a more segmented and somewhat insect-like appearance. In contrast, the new horizontal light bar integrates lighting into a single seamless element.

This change aligns the Semi visually with newer Tesla vehicles such as the Model Y, presenting a sleeker, more contemporary aesthetic. The refreshed front end appears less bulky and more unified.

These design updates support the Tesla Semi’s core specifications, which position it as a high-performance electric Class 8 truck. It offers an estimated range of up to 500 miles on a single charge, with energy consumption around 1.7 kWh per mile.

Drive power reaches 800 kW, enabling strong acceleration, even fully loaded, and the truck supports ultra-fast charging at up to 1.2 MW, allowing range recovery in under 30 minutes. The design incorporates increased payload capacity and preparations for future autonomous operation, alongside active safety systems and a low-maintenance electric architecture.

Overall, the new Tesla Semi design refines the vehicle’s visual and functional appeal, building on its foundation as an efficient alternative to diesel trucks. The company is planning to start volume production of the Tesla Semi by this year.
