Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has announced that approximately 330,000 people around the globe have purchased a monthly Full Self Driving (FSD) supervised subscription.

FSD (Supervised) is an advanced driver-assistance system that lets Tesla vehicles handle many driving tasks under human supervision. It uses cameras, neural networks, and AI to navigate roads, change lanes, stop at traffic lights, and handle complex situations. Drivers must stay alert and ready to take control at any time, so it remains “supervised” rather than fully autonomous.

The new figure comes directly from the company’s Q4 2025 earnings call. When added to about 770,000 owners who bought FSD outright in the past, the total reaches roughly 1.1 million active FSD users, a 38% increase year-over-year.

A major recent change is Tesla’s shift away from one-time purchases. The company announced it would stop selling FSD as an upfront option (previously around $8,000) after February 14, 2026.

From then on, access comes only through monthly subscriptions, priced at $99 in many markets. This move aims to create more steady, recurring revenue and make the feature easier to try without a high initial cost. New vehicles still include a 30-day free trial to let buyers experience FSD firsthand.

The subscription model has shown strong growth. Monthly paid users more than doubled in 2025, and the change is expected to help adoption rise further. Tesla has expanded FSD availability to places like South Korea, Mexico, and Australia, with local pricing adjustments (for example, around $120 USD equivalent in Mexico).

Looking ahead, Tesla continues to improve the FSD program. Recent versions, such as V14, have shown better results. Some users showcased the new version via Model S, completing a 3,081-mile trip from Los Angeles to New York with zero interventions, even in tough winter weather, including snow, ice, and low visibility.

Tesla also highlights strong safety data and billions of real-world miles driven on FSD Supervised, which helps train the system. The company is working for unsupervised autonomy in select areas, starting with places like Austin, as part of a bigger picture for robotaxis and higher adoption.
