Tesla Semi Updated Design

Tesla has updated the details of its electric Semi truck on its official website, providing finalized production specifications for two trims as customer deliveries approach.

The official website has listed the Standard Range and Long Range variants. The Standard Range trim offers approximately 325 miles of range when fully loaded at 82,000 pounds gross combination weight (GCW). It has a curb weight under 20,000 pounds and consumes 1.7 kWh per mile.

The Long Range trim provides up to 500 miles of range under the same loaded conditions, with a curb weight of 23,000 pounds and identical energy consumption of 1.7 kWh per mile. Both trims feature three independent motors on the rear axles, delivering up to 800 kW of drive power and up to 25 kW for electric power take-off (ePTO).

Charging capabilities include recovery of up to 60% of range in 30 minutes using the MCS 3.2 standard. The Long Range version supports a peak charging speed of 1.2 MW, while the Standard Range peak speed remains unspecified in the update. Both models are noted as designed for autonomy.

Besides the specs, the company is now promoting that the Tesla Semi will enter mass production in 2026. This aligns with earlier statements from CEO Elon Musk indicating volume production targets and factory expansions for the vehicle.

Some X/Twitter users highlighted the efficiency of 1.7 kWh per mile as notable for a heavy-duty truck. Others compared it to competitors, noting potential trade-offs in payload due to battery weight in the Long Range trim. Meanwhile, the truck’s final pricing remains unknown.
