Apple iOS 27 Beta 2: New features and bug fixes

Apple has released iOS 27 developer beta 2 with a bunch of new features, improvements to existing capabilities, and bug fixes that you should know about.

Faster Siri

Apple has updated the new Siri with faster results. Comparison confirms that the iOS 27 beta 2 offers a slightly faster response compared to the beta 1.

Image Search

Siri’s visual intelligence settings now include the Highlight to Image Search option. You can highlight subjects to find similar images automatically by sending the image to third parties to provide results.

Write with Siri

Message app shows that the Write with Siri feature is now available for beta 2 users. You can tap on the keyboard as soon as it appears, and it will open the Siri dialogue box from the dynamic island. Here, you just need to explain what you want to write.

Customize coming soon

Voice customizations for Siri are now labeled as “coming soon” in the settings.

Ask Siri

Apple has integrated this feature across the apps. When you tap and hold on any home screen app, the pop-up menu will show you the “Ask Siri” feature. Right after you tap on this option, Siri will launch, and you can ask anything about that app or its content. It has also integrated this capability into the Safari browser.

Camera app

The macro icon in the camera app highlights when it is on or off with a new outline.

RCS messaging

• RCS messaging and end-to-end encryption are now back in the iOS 27 beta 2 update.
• You can also reply in line and react in the same way for RCS messages.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay has a slightly improved payment preview screen with more details than the beta 1, such as Apple Card and the total amount.

Apple wallet insights

Wallet app includes the Insights feature, which connects to the wallet to show spending insights, recurring payments, account balances, and more.

Wallet Pass background

Apple has given users more options to customize their Wallet pass through new textured backgrounds, including Beams, Rays, and Glass. This option is available via manual setup.

Home app

Home app users can now update their Apple TV, making this process more convenient.

Indexing in Progress

The update has removed this status for many users, and some are now seeing it as “Optimising Search and Siri”, with the same description as before.

Bug fixes

Screenshot bug fixes

The company has fixed the screenshot cropping bug, which didn’t work as it should have, saving the entire photo without cropping.

Setup Siri

This prompt in the setting is no longer showing, where it used to be, even if you have completed the setup for “Hey Siri”.

iPhone mirroring

iPhone mirroring is working well in this iOS 27 beta 2 software release.

Wi-Fi drop bug is fixed

One of the major issues that struck me personally is the Wi-Fi dropout. My iPhone 17 Pro Max used to drop the Wi-Fi and switch to the mobile network even though the Wi-Fi coverage was strong. However, that’s fixed in this update.
