xAI launches Grok for Government, signs deal with US Department of Defense

AI company xAI has officially announced a Grok For Government, this is a suite of AI services and products for the US Government customers.

Grok is known for its humorous replies and different personas available for public users. Now, it’s making a debut in government-specific use cases to help ease their work. Grok for Government brings access to Grok 4, xAI’s latest AI model with the most advanced reasoning and training.

Government customers who buy xAI’s solutions will get to use tools including Deep Search, Tool Use, and other important integrations that the company could offer. The AI maker says it has collaborated with government leaders and innovators to deliver what’s needed. Here are some of the important solutions that xAI will provide for its Government customers.

The company will supply custom models for national security and critical science applications available to specific customers. Forward Deployed Engineering and Implementation Support with USG cleared engineers.

Customers will get custom AI-fused applications, which can be used in healthcare, fundamental science, national security and more. The AI firmware promised to make its AI models available in classified and other restricted environments to maintain the privacy of government projects. Furthermore, Interested customers can establish a partnership with xAI to build custom versions of AI models for specific mission sets.

Contracts

With this launch, xAI has also announced a government contract signing of $200 million with the US Department of Defence. The contract detail shows that DoD will use frontier AI talent to help apply cutting-edge AI to solve DoD use cases.

“The adoption of AI is transforming the Department’s ability to support our warfighters and maintain strategic advantage over our adversaries,” said Chief Digital and AI Officer Dr. Doug Matty.

In addition to this contract, xAI has announced another important milestone, allowing its products to be purchased via General Service Administration (GSA) schedule. This process will enable every federal government department, agency, or office to get its frontier models.
