Zest to install 120 EV chargers Worcestershire UK with $2.5 million investment

Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure provider Zest announced on Wednesday that a series of new chargers will be installed in North-East Worcestershire on council-owned land. The number of 120 new chargers will be deployed in 33 locations in the area.

The decision came after Redditch Borough Council teamed up with Bromsgrove District Council to agree on a long-term contract with Zest.

Zest will invest around 2.1 million GBP ($2.6 million) to provide new infrastructure that could withstand the next 15 to 20 years. This new investment is backed by the UK’s Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF).

The infrastructure provider will provide, operate, and maintain the chargers with no costs for the councils who are housing these chargers during the contract. According to the information, the first of the new chargers could be installed before spring.

The initial phase will add more chargers to more council-owned car parks as well as workplaces.

“We’re delighted to deliver on a commitment we made to our residents and businesses to boost EV charger availability in Redditch by adding more chargers on our land,” said Redditch Borough Councillor Gemma Monaco, whose portfolio includes Climate Change.

Zest CEO Robin Heap said that a large contract will help the company build an accessible charging network for electric vehicles.
