Large storage iPhone 16 models may deliver slightly slow speed

The latest information suggests that the iPhone 16 will come with a dense storage solution and it may be the fact that the upcoming iPhone models may have to sacrifice some speed performance.

Digitimes reports that Apple may change to Quad-Level Cell (QLC) for NAND flash for large storage 1TB iPhones. Although, the decision on the use of such flash memory is pending but it could be protected for the iPhone 16 lineup.

Key advantages of QLC include higher density and high capacity with reduced cost and space-efficient design compared to the Triple-Level Cell (TLC) NAND storage system used in the iPhone 15 series.

Two of the downsides of the QLC are its efficiency and performance including comparatively slower read and write speeds.

In Apple’s case, the iPhone maker could optimize the performance of next-generation storage with some expertise.

Furthermore, the report suggests that Apple could use QLC to produce even higher storage offerings such as 2TB storage. As for now, the 1TB version of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is priced at $1,599, up $200 from the 512GB model.
