Tesla to recall 200,000 vehicles for potential rear camera fault

Tesla today confirmed to recall of nearly 200,000 vehicles in the U.S. with the possibility of a malfunction in the rear camera that could cause a blind spot in the reverse mode.

Tesla is recalling the 2023 Model Y, Model S, and Model X versions. These are equipped with Full Self Driving (FSD) and run software version 2023.44.30-2023.44.30.6/2023.44.100.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the software instability may prevent the camera image from showing images during reverse. This issue could lead to a vehicle crash, fortunately, there are no crashes reported due to this cause.

This recall will happen via OTA software update and users will be notified of the recall from March 22 onwards.

Affected Tesla owners reported this issue back in December and the electric vehicle (EV) maker scheduled a recall on January 12, based on the documentation published by NHTSA.

Over the past two months, Tesla has recalled millions of vehicles for software-related glitches, which is also concerning regulators and giving them a cause to raise their finger on the car company.
