Apple has dropped plans to develop a MicroLED display Watch Ultra which has been rumored to be in development for quite some time now.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple has canceled the Micro LED Apple Watch projects because of the current forecast of microLED prices and complicated production scenarios.

Kuo mentioned that Apple has laid off a large part of the MicroLED development team and there’s no discussion on devices related to MicroLED visible inside the company anymore.

The news follows a new statement from Osram, which announced a major setback for its future microLED strategy without mentioning the names of the customers.
