Tesla NACS Charging Adapter

Rivian today officially announced Tesla Superchargers support for Rivian vehicles including R1T and R1S and the company will also deliver adapters for the users.

This means that the Rivian vehicles will now have access to more than 15,000 compatible Tesla Superchargers across North America.

In June 2023, Rivian signed an agreement with Tesla to access Superchargers in the U.S. and Canada. The company meanwhile will continue to use its own Rivian Adventure Network charger.

Earlier this month, Rivian announced its new mid-sized electric R2 SUV which is the first-ever vehicle with a NACS charge port. This new SUV has drawn major attention from the market with its $45,000 starting price.

With this new addition, Supercharger will now appear in Rivian’s mobile app and users can search them natively similar to Rivian’s Adventure Network. Compatible Superchargers will now show up in Rivian navigation when in your trip planning.

The app will show charger speeds and availability information. Customers will now have access to “Plug and Charger” feature for automatic billing. All you need to do is to plug and charge your vehicle.

Rivian R1T and R1S users will require a NACS adapter which will start to ship for all Rivian owners this spring for free. These models will start to ship with native NACS port with 2025 production.
