OpenAI partners with News Corp including WSJ and New York Post

OpenAI today announced a partnership with News Corp for a multi-year agreement to use its content to train large language model (LLM) for ChatGPT AI chatbot.

The announcement amid OpenAI continues to increase its partnerships with major publishers around the globe. This is another significant deal that the company struck as the latest development in this story.

According to the agreement, OpenAI can now access the latest and archived content from News Corp’s major news and information publishers including:

  • The Wall Street Journal,
  • Barron’s,
  • MarketWatch,
  • Investor’s Business Daily,
  • FN,
  • New York Post,
  • The Times,
  • The Sunday Times,
  • The Sun,
  • The Australian,
  • news.com.au,
  • The Daily Telegraph,
  • The Courier Mail,
  • The Advertiser,
  • and Herald Sun

More publishers are part of News Corp and will also get included in the partnership. However, the scope of this use case doesn’t cover News Corp’s other business.

“Our partnership with News Corp is a proud moment for journalism and technology,” said Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

A week ago, OpenAI partnered with Reddit, one of the largest online content-sharing and discussion community platforms. Reddit will also enhance its services using LLM, machine learning, and AI.
