Apple Share Item Location feature

Apple has announced the Share Item Location feature for Find My service that can share the location of lost items with third parties including Airlines.

This feature will allow the user to locate and recover lost items by sharing the location of an AirTag and Find My network accessory with third parties including airlines. This feature is now available for all iOS 18.2 public beta users across the globe.

The iPhone maker released this public beta version for users last week with a couple of new Apple Intelligence features. This new share lost item location capability will be available for iPhone Xs and later.

The feature relies on Find My’s core services and privacy. The shared location will turn off right after the lost item is found. Users can also disable location sharing at any time and the sharing session will also expire automatically after seven days.

Generate a Link

To create a link for a lost item, open the Find My app on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This link will show the location of the item on a map and update the new location along with a timestamp of the most recent location update.
