Tesla Tunnel Giga Texas

Tesla has built a 1,355 ft tunnel at Giga, Texas to travel Cybertruck out of the production line to outbound lot, which reduces the distance between the two areas within the facility.

The tunnel was built by The Boring Company, another company owned by Tesla CEO, Elon Musk. Founded in 2017, this firm builds underground tunnels for transportation systems.

The company has used its latest Prufrock 3 tunnel maker to drill a way from the assembling to the warehouse, which removes the requirement to take public roads.

“With a major highway in the way, we needed a faster & safer way to connect production with our end of line shop & outbound lot,” wrote Tesla while publishing a video.

According to Tesla, the tunnel was completed within 9 weeks to enable a more efficient transportation route for Cybertruck.

Omead Afshar, Chief of Staff at Tesla, said that the new tunnel at Giga Texas would reduce the entire travel for new vehicles to a few more seconds to 60 seconds.
