The US government is planning a $400 million procurement contract for Armored Electric Vehicles and it’s reported that Tesla could get the first slot in the list of available options but its CEO says otherwise.

Reacting to this new circling on X (formerly Twitter), Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he’s unaware of any such contract award for his company and it’s not happening.

“I’m pretty sure Tesla isn’t getting $400M. No one mentioned it to me, at least” Musk wrote.

Tesla’s selection news was aired on the US State Department’s procurement forecast plan. The most recent forecast update in December named Tesla as the recipient of the largest projected contract for these armored vehicles.

The award date was mentioned as the 30th of October 2025 for a 5-year contract.

Interestingly, the latest edit on the document no longer mentions Tesla, instead, it only says “Armored Electric Vehicles”. However, the contract amount is still $400 million alongside other details on the procurement document published on the government website.

Cybertruck

Tesla has five vehicles – Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. Among these, the company could deploy Cyebrtruck due to its tough stainless steel build.

The truck can withstand major blows and a specially configured armored vehicle could provide even more protection.
