Apple is working on a major design change for iOS 19 to improve the software’s user interface as well as other key elements, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

The Apple insider mentioned that this will be the most dramatic software overhauls in the company’s history. This redesign effort will cover apps, icons, menus, windows and interactions. There is not much of the information available on the specifics at the moment.

At WWDC24, Apple released iOS 18 with redesigned control center, which enables more freedom to organize and add or remove controls from the gallery.

The key personalization feature on home screen allows users to reorganize the app icons on the home screen. You can change the icon size and their appearance with new app icon themes. The iPhone maker has introduced its own Passwords app and resign to the mail app.

Meanwhile, the major topic of the show was Apple Intelligence, its generative AI suit for iPhones and other devices.

This was promoted as the biggest upgrade for iOS 18 devices, but Apple played well with this release. Only two of the previously released iPhone 15 Pros received Apple Intelligence and newly released iPhone 16 series.

Apple says these iPhones were build from the ground up for generative AI. However, they didn’t ship with new iPhones.

In fact, iPhone 16 comes with iOS 18 and required three major software upgrades to install some Apple Intelligence feature such as generative Images, improved transcription, new notifications summaries. However, the company hasn’t delivered the most promoted feature – Siri to date.

Apple has bragged so much about this feature that you can’t ignore being not delivered to iPhone users. However, it’s now being delayed indefinitely, and maybe we see one more trailer of the feature with iOS 19 at WWDC25 somewhere in June.
