First self-delivery to customers will start in June: Tesla CEO

When you place an order for a new vehicle, Tesla gets into preparation mode and sends you a pickup location to get the final delivery, but this may change very soon, as the EV maker aims to start the first self-delivery service to customers in June.
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, said the first self-delivery from the factory to customers could start next month. This service will use unsupervised full self driving (FSD), which doesn’t require a human driver on the front seat to monitor the car’s maneuvers.
In the past few months, the EV maker has transitioned all of its vehicles produced at the Fremont and Giga Texas facilities to drive themselves to the parking lot. This new change has been made possible with the full autonomous hardware integration from the production line.

Tesla customers check the pre-delivery tasks via the mobile app, including the majority of the documentation regarding ownership. Once the delivery is ready, the customer receives an email and an SMS to the registered mobile number with a link to schedule a delivery appointment.
So, the only thing left is the delivery, which can be completed autonomously instead of carrier services or a showroom pickup.
In June, Tesla also plans to rollout its robotaxi services in Texas, and it’s very likely that the company will also jump on the self-delivery services with Austin, since it will require the company to clear autonomous regulation.
