Tesla announces India debut, official X account goes live

Tesla has officially announced its India debut for this month. This announcement is coming from a newly created X account, which is dedicated for news and releases in the country.

A teaser image published on the social media site shows illustrated architecture and the Tesla logo along side India text as well as July 2025.

Tesla had been trying to enter the Indian automotive market for years. However, conversations with local authorities could not come to a conclusion until recently.

The EV maker is sending an invitation to the media and selected people. It reveals that the first Tesla Experience Center will open on July 15 at the Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

This showroom will feature Tesla Model Y and probably Model 3, but no final confirmation has been shared about the latter. We’ve also reported a camouflaged Model Y sighting to prepare for the final launch.

A report from Bloomberg suggest that the company could begin vehicle delivery as early as August. Also, customers will have access to model configuration including variants and trim options.

You should know that Tesla has not set up manufacturing plant in India, instead, it will import vehicles from its other production hub including China, and Germany.

However, import duty could be challenging for new EVs, which stands around 70%. On other hand, the government charges only 15% for companies that are investing or setting local production facility.

A month ago, Tesla posted a massive recruitment for various job roles to serve in its experience center. It appears that the majority of the posts are now filled. However, if anyone is interested in seeking a job at Tesla, you can visit the official website.
