Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has announced that users will be able to summon the Grok AI assistant in their vehicles using the “Hey Grok” wake-up phrase. Currently, users have to use the onboard virtual button to interact with the AI assistant. However, a summon phrase will make things more comfortable.

A few days ago, Tesla released the 2025.26 software update with Grok beta for its EVs. Once installed, Grok becomes a pre-installed app in the app launcher.

Users don’t require a premium subscription to use the voice mode; instead, it will be available with the existing xAI account or X account.

Users can conduct voice conversations with the default voice personality or change it accordingly. You can also enable NSFW mode in case you want Grok to swear in the conversation.

Since Grok is in beta, it cannot control the car’s features, but this situation might change in the future with software update bringing hey grok feature as well.
