xAI is finding data center capacity in Saudi Arabia
AI company, xAI, is looking to lease a data center capacity in Saudi Arabia and actively seeking a good partner to make this happen as soon as possible, reported by Bloomberg.
The AI firm is in discussion with the Humain, Saudi’s AI company, and another smaller firm with a 200-megawatt facility. Among these, Humain is a recently founded and aims to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependency on oil revenues. It was announced during a recent Saudi-US investment forum in Riyadh, attended by xAI chief, Elon Musk.
The company is owned by Public Investment Fund, a key investor in Musk’s xAI, but the Humain is yet to break ground for key structures for its facilities. The other company already has a 200-megawatt facility, which could suit xAI’s short-term plan.

xAI operates the largest data center in Memphis, named Colossus, and houses more than 200,000 Nvidia GPUs to power its Grok AI chatbot. Since its launch late last year, the AI supercomputer continues to see new improvements, and Musk wants to add millions of GPUs within this data center to gain immense AI capabilities.
The race for larger data centers is not limited to Musk’s AI firm, as other big tech companies such as Meta are planning to go all out this year, investing billions of dollars in building powerful data centers to achieve superintelligence.
For now, a final decision on xAI choosing a data center in Saudi Arabia is still pending, as more information is likely to follow soon.
