xAI releases voice mode for Grok web users
AI company, xAI has released voice mode for Grok web platform, allowing users to talk to the AI while working or interacting with the chatbot on a computer. This mode was first introduced with Grok 3 launch earlier this year and offers a voice-to-voice conversation with a vibrant personalized experience.
Voice mode can be accessed with the voice button on the right side of the prompt area or the Voice menu option on the side bar.
Once accessed, Grok will connect you to voice mode service, which will require you to connect an active microphone to talk. You will also have to allow microphone permission in your Mac or PC via browser.
The voice mode screen will show you a bunch of settings for personalization options, including voices – Ara, Rex, Eve, Sal, and Grok (lazy mode). You can pick any of these to get replies in a similar sound.

Grok users can choose different personalities including Assistant, Therapist, Storyteller, Kids Story Time, Kids Trivia Game, Meditation, Grok “Doc”, Unhinged, Sexy, Motivation, Conspiracy, Romantic, and Argumentative. These personalities will behave according to their labels. For example, a storyteller will reply to you about rocket engine description in a storytelling tone.
Furthermore, you can also change the speed of the voice mode replies at any time from the slider on the screen. You can also type via the on-screen prompt bar and send it over to the assistant in case you don’t want to interact with the microphone. This feature is rolling out for both Premium and free users across the globe on grok.com.
