Tesla has published a new video update for the Tesla Semi factory from Reno, Nevada, confirming the start of the installation phase for Powder Coat and Material Conveyance shops. The video shows a drone view of the factory in development, revealing these key areas.

A powder coating shop is crucial to apply a protective and aesthetic finish to the vehicle components. This process improves corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and provides overall longevity for assembly parts. All combined increase strength and stability.

On the other hand, the material conveyance shop will be responsible for the logistics to move large and heavy components, including battery cells, chassis parts, and other materials required to build Tesla Semi. This is also a key step to ensure a smooth production rate and reduce downtime.

Tesla Semi is an all-electric Class 8 semi-truck to replace freight transportation, providing both range, efficiency, and performance. The company has already tested the first fleet through partners, including Pepsico. However, the first commercial units are likely to rollout from the production line by the end of 2025.

Once fully operational, the Tesla Semi factory will produce 50,000 Semi trucks per year. This capacity will improve over each-year.
