X announces $1.75 million Grok Imagine AI ad contest winners
X announced the winners of its $1.75 million Grok Imagine AI ad contest. Participants submitted 30-second advertisements using Grok’s video generation tool. The contest drew numerous entries that showcased creative ways to highlight Grok’s capabilities.
Andy Orsow (@andyorsow) claimed the grand prize of $1 million. His entry stands out for its blend of historical drama and modern technology. His ad opens in a dimly lit 17th-century study where Galileo Galilei works at his desk surrounded by books, globes, and candles. Hooded figures carrying torches approach him dramatically, evoking the tension of his historical trial.

Galileo pulls out a smartphone and poses questions to Grok. He asks whether the Sun orbits the Earth. Grok responds clearly, explaining that Venus displays crescent phases similar to the Moon, proving it orbits the Sun alongside Earth.
The scene adds a light touch when another question arises about the limits of an outdated medical practice. The ad closes with the tagline “Understand the universe. Faster.” accompanied by the Grok logo.
This narrative draws a direct line between the pursuit of knowledge in Galileo’s era and the rapid insights Grok provides today. Orsow crafted the video using Grok Imagine, generating each frame to achieve a cinematic look that was well recognized by the social media users.
Dave Clark (@Diesol) earned second place and $500,000 for a story following a young boy’s space curiosity, fueled by Grok answers, into adulthood as an astronaut exploring Mars. PJ Ace (@PJaccetturo) took third place and $250,000 with a depiction of humanity’s expansion into space, featuring rockets, orbital views, and Martian settlements.
Meanwhile, special recognition awards of $100,000 each went to creators who pushed Grok Imagine in unique directions.
The contest demonstrated Grok Imagine’s versatility in enabling creators to produce professional-quality visuals quickly. It also inspires more people to use this tool and bring creative ideas into a visually refined experience.
