Stellantis and Ample announces battery swapping technology for EVs
Multinational Automotive company, Stellantis announced on Thursday a partnership with Ample to launch battery swapping technology for its Stellantis electric vehicles (EV).
The battery swapping solution allows EV owners to swap a depleted EV battery with a fully charged battery within minutes.
The initial rollout of Ample’s battery-swapping solution is planned to start in Madrid, Spain in 2024 for 100 Fiat 500e’.
The two of these partners also planned an expansion of services for more Stellantis fleets, platforms, and places.
Ample says its modular batteries can fit into any electric vehicle and would allow Stellantis to integrate Ample’s technology without making any changes in its electric vehicles.
An Ample station would immediately recognize the amble-enabled EV. After parking, the driver could initiate the battery swap from the mobile app and it could recharge the entire cell within five minutes, claims the company.
Furthermore, Ample could also start a battery-swapping subscription plan to reduce the burden of the total battery-swapping use case.
Stellantis planned to achieve 100% passenger car battery vehicle (BEV) sales in Europe and 50% passenger can and light-duty truck BEV sales in the US by 2030.
