Generative AI company xAI founder Elon Musk has confirmed the Grok 3 model release with increased capabilities over its predecessor.

Speaking at Dubai’s World Governments Summit, Musk mentioned Grok 3 has “very, very powerful reasoning capabilities”. The xAI chief said this new Grok version is smarter than any other model released by competitors.

Released in late 2023, Grok is a large language model (LLM) based chatbot. Last year, Grok received a couple of new improvements including a generative AI image, better performance, and increased token length.

The company has an AI cluster in Memphis featuring 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs and the features are made possible with this immense computing power.

The Grok 3 is teased with a new level of performance over Grok 2 and it will bring major improvements.

“In fact, at times I think Grok 3 is kind of scary smart. And you’re like, wow, this thing’s smart. It’s kind of scary. Grok 3 is scary. It’s like, wow, this thing’s, you know, coming up with solutions that you didn’t even think were lucky. You wouldn’t even anticipate, you know, not obvious solutions.” said Musk.

On a further note, Musk said that Grok 3 was trained on a lot of synthetic data. This type of data refers to artificially generated data, which replicates real-world data patterns without using real data.

The xAI chief confirmed that the company is in the final stage of tuning the Grok 3 model. In the near term, the company could release Grok 3 in one or two weeks. However, we’ve seen a similar launch date and it keeps on delaying. Still, we’ll have to wait for a final release.
