Elon Musk announces xAI Grok 3 release for Monday

Elon Musk, founder of xAI has announced that the Grok 3 chatbot will release on Monday, February 17 at 8 pm PT. He also called this new chatbot the “smartest AI on Earth”.
Grok is a large language model (LLM) based generative AI chatbot designed and developed by xAI, its first version was released in December 2023. Initially, it was integrated for X (formerly Twitter) users.
However, the company gradually turned this into a more standalone service with the help of evolving computing power. Its cluster, named Atlas, currently has more than 100,000 H100 GPUs, providing immense training capability.
Over the past year, xAI has released notable features for Grok users including generative images with its in-house model – Aurora. You can upload files such as PDFs, screenshots, images, and even memes to analyze and understand their content.

Among the newest features, Grok shows better responses with source citations and link previews.
A few days ago, Musk said the upcoming Grok has “very, very powerful reason capabilities”. He also hyped that Grok 3 will be powerful compared to its competitors including ChatGPT and Gemini.
This model is trained on synthetic data, which refers to artificially generated data to mimic real-world data patterns without using real data.
It’s expected that Grok 3 will be released for a few users under pilot testing and expand for more as the testing goes by similar to Grok 2. However, we’ll wait for an official announcement.
