xAI launches Ask Grok feature for X users to get instant bot explanations

xAI team has launched a new Ask Grok feature for X social media users and it will allow you to explain a post in the conversation by mentioning its user account @grok.
To use this feature, go to a post and mention @grok explain this. It will give you an explanation on that particular post or ask it to recognize a picture.
This is a new capability as you can already do this by pressing the Grok button on the top right corner of each post. This new addition will further streamline Grok’s use on the X.
Launched in 2023, Grok is a large language model (LLM). It was initially announced with text-to-text conversation capability. The developers behind this LLM have rapidly added new features such as generative image generation, web search results, and image and picture identification.

Recently, the company increased its computing power and launched Grok 3, which has more advanced reasoning.
Grok says, this new X integration will enable the company to explore advanced reasoning on social media for seamless engagement with posts and replies.
For now, there are no restrictions on the account type to use the feature but it’s certainly working slowly, as it is taking time to reply even after tagging @grok account.
The chatbot explains that the feature requires an account to be public. I guess that the rollout may take some time as it learns the user engagement. The company has plans to launch this feature API on March 10, 2025.
