Tesla launched Model Y in India, check price, configuration and delivery date
Tesla has officially launched Model Y in India, making its first entry in one of the biggest auto markets in the world. Here’s everything you need to know about this electric vehicle (EV) and its delivery date in the country.
Tesla has listed two models on the India website:
- Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
- Long Range Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)
There’s no All Wheel Drive option, at this time.
The RWD version has 500 km of WLTP range, 201km/h top speed, and 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. The Long Range version has 622km of WLTP range, 201km/h top speed, and 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.6 seconds.
The RWD version is priced at around 61,00,000 INR, and the Long Range version is priced at 69,00,000 INR. These prices are equivalent to $71,000 and $80,000, respectively. However, that’s almost 80% more than what it costs in the US, where the Long Range version is priced at $45,000.

It’s expected that the car is imported from Giga Shanghai, and this is the result of a heavy import duty that Tesla has to pay to sell its vehicles in the country.
Customers who want to buy a newly launched Tesla Model Y in India have to pay 22,000 INR for booking on the first day from the total due of 3,00,000 INR, which needs to be paid within 7 days. According to the information, this is a non-refundable order deposit including TCS.
Configuration includes one free and five paid colors:
- Stealth Grey (Included)
- Pearl White Multi-Coat (95,000 INR)
- Diamond Black (95,000 INR)
- Glacier Blue (1,25,000 INR)
- Quicksilver (1,85,000 INR)
- Ultra Red (1,85,000 INR)
The model comes in only 19-inch crossflow wheels, has a default black interior, and white interior costs 95,000 INR.
